The Conversation.
March 12th, 2007 by SarahI have had the (almost) exact same conversation at least a dozen times over the last week:
“Ohh, you’re expecting? When is the Baby due?”
“Ummm…I dunno. Now. Any day now.”
“No! You really don’t look that big. I would have said 6 or 7 months.”
“Oh yeah? (awkward pause) Er, well I’ve heard that with your first Baby sometimes you are a little smaller.”
“So are you having a boy or a girl?”
“A little girl! We’re so excited.”
“Do you have a name yet?”
“No. (awkward pause) We have about twelve.”
You can insert a few lines here and there about name choices and pounds gained, but seriously…SAME conversation. I’ve had the same chat with doctors, nurses, people in the grocery store–you name it. Even the psychiatric inpatients seem to have memorized the same script.
ANY DAY NOW.
