Just finished my pediatric week at a private clinic and had a great time! I was actually with a “med-peds” doctor, a specialist that is board-certified in Internal Medicine and pediatrics. They see all ages of patients (just like family medicine docs), but are different from family medicine because they don’t do OB/Gyn or surgery [...]
Whoa! Week sixteen! I could hardly remember which week this was. Guess I’ve been pregnant for a while. Here are the current highlights:
- baby 4-5 inches long
- can make a fist
- eyes becoming sensitive to light
- more developed facial muscles may lead to various expressions (i.e. squinting, frowning)
- may have HICCUPS!
- millions of eggs forming [...]
Missing my mom today because it is her 60th birthday (go mom!). I’m feeling really sentimental because she’s turning 60 and I’m turning 30…and now I’m going to have this baby while I’m 30. It’s weird and cool when you get to the point where your life starts overlapping your parents’.

If only I was going to have a big belly by Halloween…
Rats.
Had to work both days this weekend. Boo. Now it’s Monday. Still working. Still boo.
I am still liking peds though, just wish I could have a 9 to 5 job like some grown-ups do (or at least one that pays me…instead of the other way around). Ah well, it’s coming. Practically right around the corner.
Did [...]

Rahul and I went to the state fair and here’s what happened:
Alligator on a stick also happened, but I don’t really want to get into it.
It’s not nearly as good as the story about Rahul eating a mouthful of ants.
Okay, so I skipped weeks 13 and 14. Bad mommy! Highlights from the last two weeks:
- baby moving in a jerky fashion (can’t feel it yet)
- sucking it’s teeny thumb
- starts making meconium
- mouth and eyes totally formed
And now, for your reading pleasure…week fifteen:
Your baby’s skin starts out nearly transparent. Eyebrows and scalp hair may [...]
I realized a few days ago that the first trimester is a little like going through puberty again–body changes, acne, new emotions, weight gain, new curves, hormonal moodiness and so on. The whole package. Take any website about puberty, dub in the the word “pregnancy,” and suddenly it becomes a very appropriate description of my [...]
